Halloween Costume Ideas for Kids: 6 Dreamy Dress-Up Looks (Ages 3+)

Halloween, to me, is less about scary and more about magic. At littlewild kids, every piece is chosen to the standard I'd hold for my own daughter, and the best costumes are the ones kids can twirl, play and imagine in long after October 31st. Here are six looks I put together from our Halloween collection, all made to be worn again and again in the dress-up box.

1. The Starry Night Witch

A classic witch with a little extra sparkle. The Luna Velvet Witch Cape is black velvet scattered with sequin stars, and it pairs perfectly with the matching Luna Witch Hat and Luna Tutu. Finish with the Agatha Velvet Witch Wand.

2. The Pretty-in-Pink Witch

For little witches who'd rather be sweet than spooky. Layer the Elspeth Velvet Witch Cape with the Griselda Tutu, whose soft grey tulle is speckled with rose gold stars. Top it off with the Griselda Velvet Witch Hat and its oversized pink bow.

3. The Little Black Cat

Simple, cozy and always a favorite. The fluffy Black Cat Cape comes with a tail and glittery ears. For an easy all-in-one option, the Konges Sløjd Cat Skirt Costume includes a black tulle skirt and a cat-ear headband. Collect treats in the Meri Meri Cat Basket Bag.

4. The Midnight Bat

The Meri Meri Embroidered Bat Wings Costume is soft black velvet with a matching headband. Add the black-and-gold Aurora Tutu and the velvet Bat Trick or Treat Bag.

5. The Fairy or Angel

Not every child wants spooky, and that's perfectly okay. Pair the Angel Wings with the Long Tutu in White, or go pastel with the Starry Night Wings in Pink and the Celestial Pink Tutu. Every fairy needs a Pretty Sparkly Wand.

6. The Wild Ones

For kids who want to roar, chomp or sail the seas: the Meri Meri Lion Costume, the toothy Meri Meri Shark Costume, or a swashbuckling pirate look with the Simon Pirate Hat and the soft foam Sword Arthur.

The Finishing Touches

Little details make a costume feel complete. Try the Halloween Mini Hair Ties, the Haunted House Hair Clips, or the Haunted House Stick On Earrings. For a gift-ready bundle, the Halloween Pouch is filled with Halloween hair accessories.

A Few Safety Notes

Most dress-up pieces in this guide are designed for ages 3 and up and are not suitable for children under 36 months, since they contain small parts. Please check each product page for the recommended age, and keep an eye on little ones while they play, especially with capes and long ribbons.

Limited Stock, Grab Yours Early

As a small boutique, we buy in small quantities and rarely restock, so many of these pieces are down to their last one or two. If you spot a favorite, I'd recommend grabbing it early. You can browse everything in our Halloween collection.

Wishing your little ones a magical, not-too-spooky Halloween!
